About Us

The Complementary Health Innovation Lab is committed to advancing whole-person health by integrating evidence-based complementary approaches, like mindfulness, yoga and acupuncture, into conventional medical care.

Demand for these therapies is growing rapidly. But here’s the challenge: traditional models of delivering complementary care weren’t built to fit within modern health care systems. Patients are often asked to attend separate appointments, commit to long sessions and pay out of pocket. As a result, complementary medicine has remained siloed and accessible only to a few.

We believe it’s time to change that!

At CHIL, we design innovative, scalable solutions that embed complementary therapies directly into existing clinical pathways. Our goal is simple: make whole-person care more accessible, more sustainable and more seamlessly integrated than ever before.

We do this through a four-step collaborative process:

And the best part? It works.

Founded by Dr. Adam Hanley, a nationally recognized expert in mindfulness-based interventions and integrative health, CHIL brings together researchers, clinicians and community partners to reimagine what’s possible in health care. Through cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary collaboration, we ensure that complementary medicine isn’t an alternative - it’s essential.

What is Complementary Health?

Complementary Health prioritizes using a non-mainstream approach together with conventional medicine. Complementary health strategies can be grouped based on how they are delivered or experienced. These approaches support whole-person care by engaging the body, mind or both. Today, we understand that true whole-person care often draws from multiple domains to create meaningful, lasting health outcomes.
